Cavity Wall Insulation

What is Cavity Wall Insulation?

The injected cavity wall insulation product range is part of Owens Corning's system of insulation solutions for walls. The range includes Supafil, one that we commonly use. It is specifically designed for injecting into existing masonry cavity walls and it is "Mineral Wool" as defined in BS 3533: 1981 (http://infostore.saiglobal.com/EMEA/Details.aspx?ProductID=460670).

Why do you Need Cavity Wall Insulation?

The greatest loss of heat in a non-insulated home is through the walls - losing about 35%, compared to 25% through the roof. Installing cavity wall insulation slows down the rate of heat loss by up to 66%, therefore giving immediate savings on fuel bills.

Help Avoid Problems

Condensation and mould growth are a major concern in non-insulated houses. To avoid these problems the first priority should always be to keep the building warm. Cavity wall insulation keeps heat where it should be - inside the building - but it also acts as a barrier against moisture coming in. Reduced heat flow through the structure keeps the inner wall surfaces and the inside air warmer, thereby greatly reducing the risk of condensation and mould growth.
